Miley Cyrus hosting VMAs 'is not going to be safe for children,' says Parents Television Council

We all saw this one coming — the Parents Television Council disagrees with MTV's choice of Miley Cyrus as the host for the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

Parents Television Council President Tim Winter told Gossip Cop that this year's award show is "not going to be safe for children to watch."

Winter also argued that MTV "must rate it TV-MA. With Miley's shtick, it's probably going to be very edgy, very profane, very sexually explicit."

When Cyrus announced on Twitter that she will be hosting this year's ceremony, she wrote, "Fuck yeah VMAs!!!!!" Winter stated that Cyrus "dropping F-bombs in her announcement on social media" only foreshadows what she will do during the award show.

Cyrus' performance at the 2013 VMAs was heavily criticized by fans, parents and the media when she twerked on Robin Thicke during a performance of his hit single "Blurred Lines."

Last year, Cyrus won Video of the Year for "Wrecking Ball," but did not perform.

The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards will air on August 30 at 9 p.m. EST.
