Now that Neill Blomkamp’s Alien movie is apparently actually happening, the director has released some more concept art from the project.
Blomkamp’s latest piece of art shows Ripley and Hicks speaking with an armored soldier. Although Hicks, played by Michael Biehn in James Cameron’s Aliens, died at the start of Alien3, it looks like that little fact will be ignored.
In the caption for the photo, Blomkamp wrote, “#alien going very well. Love this project.”
Back in January, Blomkamp posted a series of images on Instagram that revealed a proposed Alien movie he wanted to make. Not only was it clear that he wanted Sigourney Weaver back to play Ripley, but it was also obvious that he wanted to ignore Alien3 and Alien: Resurrection.
Then, weeks later, the District 9 director mentioned that he was actually going to make the film with Fox, even though there is a Prometheus 2 in the works.
Blomkamp is still best known for his debut feature, 2009’s District 9. His follow-ups, Elysium and Chappie, weren’t met with great reviews. Hopefully working in an established universe will help him get back on track.
