New clip from 'Amy' shows Amy Winehouse recording 'Back to Black' (Video)

Asif Kapaida's documentary about the life of singer Amy Winehouse hit U.K. theaters last week and will be released in the U.S. this Friday. As a teaser for the release, a clip from Amy was posted online this morning.

The clip shows Winehouse singing "Back to Black" in the studio with producer Mark Ronson. It starts with the jazz singer singing an a cappella rendition of the title track of her critically-acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning 2006 album. Shortly after, the instrumental kicks in as Winehouse finishes the song.

Ronson, who recently regained success with his Bruno Mars-assisted smash single "Uptown Funk," states in the clip that Winehouse wrote the lyrics and the melody for "Back to Black" in "two or three hours."

As the song comes to a finish, Winehouse asks Ronson, "It's a bit upsetting at the end, isn't it?"

At the end of the clip, Ronson says, "It was just one of those serendipitous things. Like, I just caught her at that magic moment, you know, and she was just ready to get it going. That's why I couldn't understand what everyone else was saying about this procrastinating, troubled artist."
