Salma Hayek on Donald Trump's immigration comments: I'm not 'insulted by stupidity'

Salma Hayek is responding to Donald Trump’s controversial immigration comments with a sort of lack of response, if you will.

The Prophet star doesn’t want to bring any more attention to the comments, which have landed Trump in hot water with many of his business partners, many of which severed ties with him over it.

She called his comments that Mexican immigrants are “rapists” a “very simple tactic for self-promotion.”

She continued to the Los Angeles Times, “What's sad is how easily people are manipulated. I'm not insulted because I cannot be insulted by stupidity.”

“I'm not dumb, so I see through the manipulation,” she said. “We have something to learn from this. That is that the educated people or the people with great human values have to wake up, because they are under the illusion that most of this country is like them and sometimes they don't even go to vote.”

Univision cut ties with Trump, the Trump Organization and Miss Universe after the comments went public and he was also dropped from Macy’s. Trump is now suing Univision for $500 million.
