San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Preview: What to look forward to

The five day pop-culture extravaganza known as San Diego Comic Con is finally here. Comic-Con is without a doubt the most popular and world-known comic convention that attracts visitors from around the globe. Not only are comics, TV shows, films and every media outlet in attendance every year but Comic-Con is where most of the big film and TV news debut every year.
From The Walking Dead to the upcoming major blockbusters such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Batman vs. Superman there is something for everyone at Comic-Con.
The Celebrity Cafe is excited to be attending the convention all five days, including tonight which is Preview Night. This week is sure to be an exciting week of nothing but pop-culture news and great photos of celebrities and cosplayers. In honor of preview night, here is some preview information of what we will be covering this week and what to expect from this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

Panels are some of the most important parts of Comic-Con. Panels are where fans are able to see some of their favorite celebrities, artists and creators discuss various topics such as a current or upcoming project. Fans are also able to ask questions which is one of the best parts of attending the convention; being able to interact and actually talk to these creators and stars.
Of course some panels are going to be out-of-control crazy and will be in the infamous Hall H of the convention center and there will be the other panels that will be extremely easy to get into. Some of the most popular shows that will be in Hall H this year are of course The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Doctor Who. These shows will be debuting scenes from their new seasons and will feature some of their most prominent actors and actresses.
One of the most anticipated panels will be happening Saturday night from 8pm-11pm and is hosted by Warner Bros. Entertainment. In this panel popular TV shows such as CW’s Arrow and The Flash will be present as well as, I am sure, huge news about the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film and Suicide Squad.
Many people forget that children also love to attend Comic-Con as well, so there will be many kid-friendly panels as well from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. One of the most fun panels will be with the whole cast from Spongebob Square Pants who will be there Friday morning. Overall there is a panel for everyone, but it will be these major TV show and film panels that will get the most attention in the media news world.

Artists Alley and the main showroom is another part of the convention that is irreplaceable. For anyone that has attending the show, you will know that the main showroom floor is a huge space for literally every media outlet, comic-book company and merchandise booth to sell there art and other products. This year will be no different than last year with some of the main booths being from DC and Warner Bros Entertainment, Disney, Nerdist Industries, Dark Horse Comics and more.
However it will be interesting to see this year which shows take over the showroom floor. Last year The Walking Dead took over a large part of the floor with an actual Terminus set from the show with live actors in full-on zombie make-up walking around the area interacting with guests. Hopefully they will have another interactive exhibit this year.

Of course one of the most important parts of any convention is the amazing cosplayers that are in attendance. Every year it is amazing to see the dedication and passion these costumers and cosplayers have for their craft. One can be sure to always see a good amount of Harley Quinns, Game of Thrones characters and video game characters in attendance.
This year we will hopefully be able to get a good amount of photos to have a great cosplay photo gallery to show-off some of the great talent from this year.

One of the aspects that will be different this year is the noticeably lack of Marvel and Disney. Although they will be present at the convention, it won’t be as intense as in years past. This reason can be attributed to the D23 Expo that will be taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center this August. D23 is the ultimate Disney convention. Since Marvel is owned by Disney, I am sure that they are saving all of their very big news for that convention.
Don’t worry about Star Wars however. Although the property is now owned by Disney and is sure to have a huge presence at D23, it will definitely still have its own panel on Friday which is sure to be packed to the gills full of fans.

After a long day of walking around a convention, one doesn’t even think about all of the other big events that are going on in the San Diego Gaslamp District area where Comic-Con takes place.
Guests often forget the huge scale of outside events that take place every year. This year there will be tons of costume contests at various bars and lots of after parties that often times celebrities will attend.
This year The Celebrity Cafe will be attending two after parties both with the great creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman. Both of his parties will be for two upcoming shows Outcast and Fear The Walking Dead which is the spinoff of The Walking Dead.
If you are attending Comic-Con this year, don’t forget to check out the fun and often free outside events for the convention.
