Sarah Jessica Parker explains why she's not a feminist

Sarah Jessica Parker is many things, but a feminist is not one of them.

The actress opened up to Cosmopolitan about where she stands when it comes to social issues in the magazine’s August issue, saying she considers herself a “humanist.”

“I see a lot of people trying to sort out their roles,” she explained with the utmost respect for those who are. “People of color, gays, lesbians and transgenders who are carving out this space… but I don’t think it’s just women anymore. We would be so enormously powerful if it were a humanist movement.”

Though SJP agrees that feminist issues such as equal pay are important, notes E! News, she thinks that “the thing that would change people’s lives more than anything” is child care.

“If I could guarantee every mother who is working two, three jobs that she had good child care that didn’t make her anxious all day,” Parker said. “People would probably work in more efficient ways.”

The Sex and the City star also shed light on how unappreciated some people are.

“How many times do you hear a wealthy person get asked, ‘How do you do it all?’ If I’m asked that question one more time,” she added. “I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me? Ask someone who looks like she’s about to drop, How are you doing? How are you managing?”
