Why Salma Hayek's husband François Pinault convinced her not to quit acting

After Salma Hayek had her daughter, Valentina, in 2007, she considered quitting acting but she has revealed her husband, François Pinault, wouldn’t let that happen.

Hayek considered being a stay-at-home mom, though she vows to be financially independent from her billionaire husband.

“You have to [keep acting]. We're not putting up with some lazy girl in the house. That's not who I married,” she recalled the Kering CEO telling her.

She also told Allure, “And then he said something so beautiful. ... 'I don't want to be deprived of your work. I want to watch it, too. And the world has not seen the best of you yet. So you cannot stop until some of that is put out.'”

Hayek went on to say that what works for her marriage is her “independence,” which garners “respect” from him and gives her a sense of identity.

“My expenses from before the marriage are my expenses," she said.

Hayek, 48, and Pinault, 53, married in 2009.

Hayek posed topless for the Allure photoshoot, which was shot by photographer Patrick Demarchelier.
