Zoe Saldana talks about sexism within the film industry

Zoe Saldana is not afraid to speak her mind about the injustices that actresses face in the film industry. When promoting her new movie Infinitely Polar Bear, the actress talked about her experiences with sexism.

The actress told Philly.com that a producer only hired her because he found her sexy.

“That story is true,” she said. “A producer once told me he hired me for the way I held a gun while wearing panties, not for my opinions. I wish I’d recorded it, so I could play it for every girl in elementary school and tell them never to let anybody treat them that way.”

A month ago, Saldana also talked about how women are treated unfairly when they are pregnant.

She told USA Today that at times she was threatened to be written off the project, but that didn’t end up happening.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, are you kidding me? It’s this bad?’ Right when I just feel super-duper happy, is that inconvenient for you?”

Saldana brought up the point that studios aren’t willing to pay for her child’s day care, but they will pay for a man’s private jet.

The actress is dedicated to using her public platform to stand up for working moms and wants to help them be treated equally.
