NBC is currently developing a remake of the Robert Wagner, Stefanie Powers series Hart to Hart, but with a twist. The show will feature a gay couple.
The project was first reported on by Deadline and Variety confirmed it as well.
The original Hart To Hart starred Wagner as Jonathan Hart and Powers as his wife, Jennifer. The two took trips around the world and often got stuck solving crimes. It ran for five seasons from 1979 to 1984 and was created by Sidney Sheldon. ABC aired the show and it was a Columbia Pictures TV production. There were also eight TV movies that aired between 1993 and 1996.
According to Deadline, the new show will be written by Christopher Fife (Private Practice) and comes from Carol Mendelsohn and Sony TV. The main characters will be ‘by-the-book’ attorney Jonathan Hart and free-spirited investigator Dan Hartman, who solve crimes while also trying to settle down.
It seems a bit strange that NBC would develop a remake of a series from the ‘80s when their executives considered a revival of a ‘90s sitcom dated. Just two weeks ago, the network scrapped Coach after filming a pilot with Craig T. Nelson.
NBC did revive Heroes with Heroes Reborn, which starts next week.
