A reboot of The A-Team is on the way, continuing television’s current obsession with the ‘80s and ‘90s.
20th Century Fox TV is working on a contemporary version of the hit ‘80s action series that was created by Stephen J. Cannell and Frank Lupo. Chris Morgan, a producer and writer on the Fast & Furious movies is executive producing with Cannell’s daughter, television director Tawnia McKiernan, reports Deadline. Entertainment Weekly also confirmed that the project is in the works.
Sleepy Hollow’s Albert Kim is writing.
The original A-Team ran from 1983 to 1987 and starred George Peppard, Mr. T, Dwight Schultz and Dirk Benedict as Vietnam War veterans trying to stop a group that framed them for a crime. The new series will be set in today’s world, with a mix of men and women in the main team.
The A-Team was remade as a movie in 2010 with Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper.
There have been several reports of other TV reboots in various stages of development. Just last week, it was reported that a Hart To Hart reboot is in the works at NBC.
Be sure to check out our interview with Mr. T, in which he explains why The Expendables is a rip-off of The A-Team.
