Apple CEO Tim Cook is not a fan of Steve Jobs becoming the subject of movies and Aaron Sorkin, the writer of the upcoming Steve Jobs, didn’t really appreciate Cook’s comments.
“I haven’t seen them, but the Steve I knew was an amazing human being. He’s someone that you wanted to do your best work [for],” Cook told Colbert, notes Slash Film. “He invented things that I think other people could not. He solved problems other people could not. He had this uncanny ability to see around the corner and to describe a future, not an evolutionary future but a revolutionary future, and he was a joy to work with. I love him dearly and I miss him everyday.”
Cook later said that filmmakers are being “opportunistic,” adding, “I hate this; it’s not a great part of our world.”
But Sorkin disagreed, telling The Hollywood Reporter that Cook should see Steve Jobs before he complains about it.
“Nobody did this movie to get rich. Secondly, Tim Cook should really see the movie before he decides what it is,” Sorkin said.
The writer, who has an Oscar for The Social Network, wasn’t done. “Third, if you've got a factory full of children in China assembling phones for 17 cents an hour you've got a lot of nerve calling someone else opportunistic,” he told THR.
Steve Jobs was directed by Danny Boyle and focuses on three important product launches in Jobs’ career. The film stars Michael Fassbender in the title role and will be released to limited theaters on Oct. 9.
