After seven seasons, someone finally won NBC’s ‘American Ninja Warrior’ last night

It took seven seasons, but someone has finally won American Ninja Warrior, NBC’s body-challenging competition show, during the finale last night. Isaac Caldiero finished the insane Mt. Midoriyama challenge, winning $1 million.

Caldiero, a busboy who had competed on previous seasons of the show, was the first person to make it all the way through the challenge without falling into the pool of water under him. He climbed along a wall, jumped from giant hanging playing card to another card and jumped through a course with a pole just to reach the end.

Amazingly, another contestant almost finished the course as well. Geoff Britten came so close to finishing, but came up short.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Kent Weed said that he hopes Caldiero’s victory brings in more viewers and more competitors. Next season will have even more challenges.

“We always come up with new obstacles,” Weed said. “We’re going to have between 24 and 26 new obstacles. I think it’s just tweaking the course. We have a couple surprises planned.”

“I mean it's amazing to think about, like I've never made or lived off more than $10,000 a year,” Caldiero told E! News. “So to all of a sudden...like I can't even imagine what it's going to be like...the future is unknown.”

Here’s Caldiero’s history-making finish:
