Amy Schumer earns over $8 million in book deal

Amy Schumer became an Emmy winner over the weekend and while her recent success has probably made her a millionaire already, the comedian is about to get richer. She’s signed a book deal that could earn her over $8 million.

Earlier this month, Publishers Weekly reported that Schumer’s book agent David Kuhn was shopping around a book proposal. Sources told the site that she was likely to get an advance in the high seven-figure range.

Well, that’s exactly what she got. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the winning bid was between $8 million and $10 million. It’s not clear what publisher won out and Schumer’s representatives haven’t commented on the deal.

Schumer, 34, certainly has enough life experiences to fill a book and it would be interesting to hear more about her friendship with Jennifer Lawrence.

The comedian is in the middle of an incredible year, following the success of her first film, Trainwreck, and her show, Inside Amy Schumer. On Sunday, her Comedy Central show won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.

Schumer’s incredible advance is even more than what other celebrity writers have received. In 2013, Aziz Ansari got $3.5 million and Lena Dunham received $3.7 million from Random House in 2012. Other female comedians, including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling, have had success with books as well.
