Attorney for woman accusing Patrick Kane of sexual assault quits case

The attorney for the woman who has accused Chicago Blackhawks right winger Patrick Kane of sexual assault told reporters Thursday that he has quit the case.

WLS noted that Thomas Eoannou’s reasoning for no longer representing the plaintiff is over concerns with the evidence bag.

"My office received an evidence bag from the mother of my client. The evidence bag was torn, affixed to the bag was a label identifying my client in the investigation," he said.

He added that his concerns over the evidence do not change his opinion of believing what his former client said occurred on the night in question.

As we previously reported, Kane became the subject of the investigation last month after the accuser said he raped her. She then went to a hospital where a rape kit was done.

Kane has denied the accusation and said, “I am confident that when all the facts come to light, I will be absolved."

The Blackhawks season starts on Oct. 7.
