Johnny Football will have another chance to prove himself as the Cleveland Browns have announced that he will start at quarterback on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
The Browns made the announcement via Twitter Friday after quarterback Josh McCown did not pass the NFL's concussion protocol and therefore has not been cleared to play. McCown was hit in the head Sunday while playing the New York Jets and taken out of the game.
Manziel stepped in for McCown and when evaluating his performance offensive coordinator John DeFilippo said that he threw some good balls, but the turnovers were obviously disappointing.
Entering his second season with the team, Manziel has gotten more attention for his off-the-field behavior than for his play on the field.
ESPN noted that he is 0-2 in his starts last year and completed 13 of 26 passes with two interceptions.
This week he faces an opponent who was the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft in quarterback Marcus Mariota. The rookie shined in his debut last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and first round draft pick Jameis Winston.
