More stars are joining The Girl on the Train, Dreamworks’ adaptation of the best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins. Jared Leto and Chris Evans are reportedly in talks for the male lead roles.
The casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter and was also confirmed by TheWrap.
The Girl On The Train, which will be directed by The Help’s Tate Taylor from a script by Erin Cressida Wilson, already stars Emily Blunt, Haley Bennett and Rebecca Ferguson.
Blunt will star as Rachel, an alcoholic without a job who takes the train every day. On the way, she passes a perfect couple’s home and fantasizes about their lives. One day, she suddenly wakes up with blood on her hands and can’t remember what happened. She might have been a part of a crime.
Ferguson is playing Rachel’s ex-husband’s mistress. Bennett and Leto’s characters are married, while Evans will play Rachel’s ex-husband.
Both Leto and Evans would have several scheduling conflicts to work out if they manage to get into the film. Leto is the new Joker in the DC Comics movies, making his debut in Suicide Squad. Of course, Evans is Marvel’s Captain America and is currently finishing work on Captain America: Civil War.
The Girl on the Train is being produced by Marc Platt with executive producers Jared LeBoff and Celia Costas.
