One thing Dragon Con attendees look forward to every year is the Saturday morning parade through downtown Atlanta. Attendees are not the only ones who look forward to the parade, though. Many local residents also come out to observe the elaborate and creative costumes that can be seen.
Participants dress up as their favorite characters or fictional beings and march through town grouped by the fandom their costume represents. In other words, all the Star Trek cosplayers march together followed by another group, such as all the Dr. Who cosplayers. Special guests can be seen at the head of the parade, and the stormtroopers always bring up the rear.
As we previously reported, Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura from Star Trek) fulfilled the position of Grand Marshall of the parade. Another special guest this year was Caroll Spinney, one of the puppeteers that worked on Sesame Street. He is known for his portrayal of Big Bird, and Oscar the Grouch.

The local Medieval Times restaurant was also represented by their heralds, knights, and horses.
Halo fans donned their armor, ready to defend us.
The Men In Black were also present with recruits from the next generation.
Aliens were not our only worry, we also had monsters and ghouls from Netherworld Haunted House.
If all else fails, “Who ya gonna call?”
DC comic heroes and Disney princesses could also be seen marching through Atlanta.
Following behind Belle and Cogsworth, Darth Vader can be seen sporting a pink suit and a pink cape. He even doused his helmet in pink. Perhaps he is showing his support of breast cancer research and awareness.
Some favorite TV shows were represented, including Game of Thrones, and Dr. Who.
Spectators were treated to another time traveling spectacle when Marty McFly drove down the street in Doc’s modified DeLorean.
A pirate ship could also be seen steering down the avenue.
The steampunk movement was also depicted, along with the trojan bunny from Monty Python’s Holy Grail.
Overall, it was a successful venture that involved over 3,000 participants, and 80,000 spectators. If you missed out, you can always come see it next year, or better yet, be in it! Dragon Con 2016 will again take place on Labor Day weekend (Friday, Sept 2 - Monday, Sept 5).
