Eli Manning has agreed to a contract extension with the New York Giants. The deal is expected to be signed on Friday.
According to ESPN, the deal is for four years and $84 million with $65 million guaranteed. The deal also includes a $31 million signing bonus. Manning now has a no-trade clause in his contract. His $21 million-a-year salary puts him fourth among quarterbacks in the NFL, behind Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and Ben Roethlisberger. Manning is now signed through 2019.
"We want him to be here and finish his career as a Giant," Giants CEO and president John Mara said before training camp. "I'm sure he wants the same thing."
Manning was about to enter the final year of his contract. He has played for the Giants for his entire 11 year career. Last year he completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 4,410 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, according to USA Today. Manning, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, has thrown for 39,755 yards and 259 touchdowns, with 185 interceptions in his career.
The Giants open the season Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
