Home runs should be celebrated, but not when they are hit by the away team... and especially when they are hit by your division rivals. However, that’s what happened at last night’s game between the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals at Progressive Field.
Yes, the fireworks guy - whose only job is to set off fireworks when the Indians hit homers - accidentally set fireworks off when the Royals’ Alex Rios hit a home run. As Cleveland.com notes, the guy was booed immediately and the cameras found him trying to bury his face in his hat. He also hit himself on the forehead.
To make matters worse, the two runs Rios knocked in were the only runs scored in the game. The Indians fell 2-0 and are now 13.5 games behind the Royals in the AL Central.
Of course, the fireworks guy’s mistake was quickly caught by Twitter... and even the Indians themselves. However, we all should remember - everyone makes mistakes.
Re: The fireworks guy ...
Pardon me Mr. Perfect! I guess I forgot you never make a mistake!
