Jamie Dornan cut from Bradley Cooper’s ‘Burnt’

Jamie Dornan has been burned by the filmmakers of Burnt. The Fifty Shades of Grey star has been cut from John Wells’ new film, which stars Bradley Cooper as a chef.

Dornan joined the film in July 2014 when it was still called Adam Jones, after the name of Cooper’s character. It was expected to give Dornan’s career another boost following his appearance in Fifty Shades of Grey. However, rumors started springing up this month that he was cut out of the film.

According to WENN, a report from the U.K. tabloid The Sun broke the news that Dornan would be dropped, although they blamed executives who thought linking this film with 50 Shades would be “too distracting.”

Wells told Entertainment Weekly that this was not the case. Dornan only had a cameo and it took the focus away from the Adam Jones story.

“In making every film, cuts and adjustments in storylines inevitably occur. In the case of Burnt, Jamie’s role was a small cameo that he was kind enough to do for us and was part of Sienna Miller’s character’s backstory,” Wells told EW. “We ultimately decided to focus on Adam Jones’ redemption story.”

Wells added that he was “thrilled” to work with Dornan and that his performance was “fantastic.” That means we could probably see it when the film hits home video.

Actors getting cut out of films after filming a scene is fairly common. Sienna Miller, who is in Burnt, was supposed to be in Black Mass, but her scenes were deleted.

Burnt hits theaters on Oct. 23.
