Edgar Wright isn't slowing down with his latest, Baby Driver. He's got Ansel Elgort in the hot seat, Lily James sliding into the passenger side, and now finds Jamie Foxx hitching a ride.
The ever-versatile actor is the latest to enter negotiations for the Working Title production, Deadline reports. He'll likely play the crime boss who cohorts our young, mute, baby-faced getaway driver (Elgort) to work for him, only to lead him into a world of trouble when a doomed heist puts him and those he cares about, including his diner waitress love interest (James), into a world of trouble. Foxx reportedly replaces Michael Douglas, who was at one point in talks for the project.
Baby Driver, which Wright also wrote, is a project the filmmaker's tried lifting off the ground for years. He found the inspiration to make it his next project, however, when creative differences made him leave Ant-Man. It's described as the "ultimate rock-and-roll chase film."
Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan produce for Working Title, and are joined by Nira Park of Big Talk Productions. It's co-financed by MRC and TriStar, with the latter handling the worldwide distribution. They already have a March 17, 2017 release tacked, providing a longer wait than expected.
Foxx, most recently seen in last year's Annie remake, is currently filming a role in the Sleepless Night remake. He's also attached to another thriller, Blink, but, with production on Wright's film hoping to begin later this year, expect Baby Driver to be his follow-up.
