Jimmy Fallon has revealed that Justin Bieber pulled out of a sketch they planned to do on the Tonight Show recently at the last minute, leaving him scrambling to find a replacement sketch.
The plan was that the “What Do You Mean?” singer would have a little fun with Fallon in one of the late night host’s many hilarious segments, and then hit the stage to perform with the support of Fallon’s house band The Roots.
However, when Bieber called off his participation in the sketch, Fallon was understandably upset.
“I wish they’d told me weeks ago because today’s the day, and now we have to crunch and think of an idea to do,” Fallon told Billboard.
“And I have to apologize to the crew guys who built the set and the wardrobe people and everyone,” he continued.
“But it’s not what he does. He’s here to sing, so as long as he’s comfortable and it sounds good then we did our job. And if I talk to him and make him funny and make him look good, that’s my job. That’s all I have to do.”
Bieber appeared on the show in the beginning of September, and while he was there he explained to Fallon why he cried at the end of his MTV VMAs performance.
