Kim Cattrall doesn't want to be called 'childless' because she feels like a 'parent' in other ways

Kim Cattrall is taking offense to one word in particular when it comes to describing women who do not have children and she’s not afraid to let everyone know.

When the Sex and the City star spoke on BBC 4’s Woman’s Hour, she said she isn’t a fan of the word “childless.”

"I am not a biological parent, but I am a parent," she explained. "I have young actors and actresses that I mentor, I have nieces and nephews that I am very close to. There is a way to become a mother in this day and age which doesn't include your name on the child's birth certificate.”

She went on to say, "Childless sounds like you're less because you haven't had a child.”

Cattrall, 59, continued to say that it wasn’t exactly a “conscious choice” not to have children, rather she kept holding off on it.

The actress also touched on her love life, saying she feels “romantically retired” because it’s really “difficult” to date at her age.

"I'm not your average single woman. I come with, as all men and women of a certain age, they come with baggage,” she said.
