The Nightly Show, hosted by former Daily Show Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore, has just been picked up for a second season by Comedy Central.
Wilmore’s second season will run from January 2016 to January 2017, notes CNNMoney. It also means that he will stay around long enough to be paired with The Daily Show’s re-launch with Trevor Noah on Sept. 28. The two hosts can jointly cover the 2016 presidential election.
Wilmore took over the slot once held by The Colbert Report and it was first called The Minority Report. The title was eventually changed by January, when the show debuted.
Prior to hosting his own show, Wilmore was a mainstay on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as the senior black correspondent.
Wilmore averaged 918,000 viewers during Stewart’s final week, but he has recently only averaged 713,000 viewers since Stewart retired last month.
