Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige now reports directly to Disney

There’s been a shake-up at Marvel Studios, which gives president Kevin Feige much more power than he had before. Feige will now directly report to Disney Studio chief Alan Horn, sidestepping Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac ‘Ike’ Perlmutter.

Feige has been the brains behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe set-up since it really got started and helped turn the comics publisher into a power player in Hollywood after Disney bought it in 2009 for $4 billion. Despite that success, he still had to report to Perlmutter, who is based in New York, at least until this week, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

Perlmutter did have a reputation for being frugal and Feige has reportedly expressed displeasure with having to deal with him. Now, he will effectively have even more creative control to do as he sees fit. Considering that Marvel movies have made a combined $7 billion since 2009, that only seems fair.

Disney has two Marvel movies coming out in 2016, including March’s Captain America: Civil War.

Sadly, for Jeph Loeb and the guys at Marvel TV, they will have to continue reporting to Perlmutter.
