Music piracy site Sharebeast shut down by U.S. Department of Justice

Illegal file-sharing website Sharebeast has been shut down, thanks to recent actions taken by the U.S. Department of Justice. Sharebeast.com, labeled as the largest American-based music piracy site for distribution of “a massive library of popular albums and tracks before their release,” has been under surveillance of the FBI and the Justice Department for some time now.
Recording Industry Association of America Chairman and CEO Cary Sherman said in a statement on the RIAA’s website:
“This is a huge win for the music community and legitimate music services. Sharebeast operated with flagrant disregard for the rights of artists and labels while undermining the legal marketplace.”
Illegal music-sharing sites like Sharebeast are in the crosshairs of government guns as the intensity of music piracy continues to build at alarming rate.
“Millions of users accessed songs from Sharebeast each month without one penny of compensation going to countless artists, songwriters, labels and others who created the music,” said Sherman.
An FBI Anti-Piracy Warning is now in effect on Sharebeast.com, with the RIAA reporting more than 100,000 files leaked that lead to the takedown.
“We are grateful to the FBI and the Department of Justice for its strong stand against Sharebeast and for recognizing that these types of illicit sites wreak major damage on the music community and hinder fans’ legitimate listening options.”
Sharebeast users continue to be vocal:
