'Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension' will premiere at Screamfest, where the series began

Eight years ago, a little movie called Paranormal Activity premiered at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, and now, the final installment will be returning to where it all began.

According to a press release from Paramount Pictures, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension will premiere as the closing film of the Screamfest Horror Film Festival on October 22nd at the TCL Chinese Theater. It will be shown in RealD 3D, a first for the long running found footage franchise.

This will be the series' return to Screamfest, where the original movie premiered back in 2007. Paranormal Activity then expanded to 12 markets around the world thanks to fans who demanded it, and so as a tribute to these dedicated viewers, Screamfest will also for the first time present advanced screenings nationwide in those original locations: Ann Arbor, MI; Baton Rouge, LA; Boulder, CO; Columbus, OH; Durham, NC; Lincoln, NE; Madison, WI; Orlando, FL; Santa Cruz, CA; Seattle, WA; State College, PA; and Tucson, AZ.

Series producer Oren Peli said it's surreal to be returning to the place where the first movie premiered, adding, "These films continued to be made because of the incredible fans that supported them from the very beginning, so I look forward to bringing the series back to its roots to honor them.”

In The Ghost Dimension, the sixth and final installment in the Paranormal Activity series, a new family discovers the tapes young Katie and Kriti recorded in Paranormal Activity 3, as well as a camera that allows them to see into a mysterious "ghost dimension."

The Screamfest Film Festival runs from October 13th to October 22nd. Tickets are now available at Screamfestla.com.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension will hit theaters everywhere on October 23.
