On the day before the 14th anniversary of the attacks on 9/11, a rainbow appeared to originate from the World Trade Center.
The remarkable scene was first noticed by Ben Sturner, CEO of Leverage Agency, a sports marketing company located on Madison Ave. in New York. According to NBC New York, Sturner walked outside of his apartment in Queens to check the weather around 7 a.m. on Sept. 10.
“I see this rainbow, and it’s coming from the World Trade Center and it’s the most gorgeous rainbow I’ve ever seen,” he said. “I took out my phone and started snapping photos.”
Sturner later shared these photos on his Twitter account. The images quickly went viral and were shared by several news sources like NBC, PIX11 and Fox News.
The rainbow appeared during a day of heavy rain and flooding in the New York and New Jersey area. Flash flood warnings were issued in Nassau and western Suffolk Counties on Long Island.
