'The Flash' casts Tony Todd as voice of Zoom for season two

As we gear up for the season two premiere of The Flash in a few weeks, we have yet another actor cast in a role on the show, or at least as his voice. For this season’s big bad, actor Tony Todd from Final Destination will take on the voice of Zoom.

Variety reported that Zoom was referenced during The Flash trailer at Comic-Con and he will make his first appearance in the second episode, “Flash of Two Worlds.”

Andrew Kreisberg, the executive producer, said “Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanagh’s voice, and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different. Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit.” He stated that they wanted something likened to Darth Vader with someone’s voice coming from underneath a mask. He referred to Zoom as a “speed demon.”

Another interesting tidbit about Zoom that Kreisberg spilled was in regards to his appearance, his costume was organic and that it was not easy to tell whether “it is a suit or alive.” Basically, you don’t see any skin so who knows what is under that costume. Plus, we won’t know right away just who Zoom is, like we did with Reverse-Flash.

As previously reported, other cast members joining the show include Teddy Sears in the role of Jay Garrick and Shantel VanSenten as Patty Spivot.

Wally West will also appear in the show, played by Keiynan Lonsdale.

Tony Todd has also had roles in Lego DC Comic Book Super Heroes video games, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and he also was on the show Smallville.
