The Who forced to cancel four shows due to Roger Daltrey’s illness

The Who were supposed to kick off their fall tour next week, but have been forced to delay the tour until later this month. Singer Roger Daltrey is suffering from a virus.

The legendary rock group said that previously scheduled shows at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego (Sept. 14); Honda Center in Anaheim (Sept. 16); Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (Sept. 19); and STAPLES Center in Los Angeles (Sept. 18) were postponed. They also had to cancel their performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sept. 18.

The other four shows will be rescheduled, but no new dates were set.

The Who Hits 50! fall tour will start on Sept. 24 at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon instead. They have shows scheduled through Dec. 13, when they finish up the tour at Oakland’s Oracle Arena.

There were no further comments on Daltrey’s illness. Simon Townshend, the younger brother of original Who member Pete Townshend, wrote on his blog that Daltrey “has been unwell lately.”

In an interview with Billboard last year, Daltry, 71, admitted that it is very hard for the group to continue touring regularly at their age and suggested that this really might be the last time The Who tours.

“We cannot keep going on doing these month after month-long, extended tours,” Daltrey said at the time. It's extremely hard, hard work. When we take civilians, as I call them, on the road with us they usually last about 10 days and they're exhausted, just by the grind of it. So we have to be realistic.”
