Tracy Morgan's moving return closes out the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards

The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards, accurately dubbed, "TV's biggest night," pulled no punches to viewers emotions as presenters and audience members alike celebrated the awards from the Television Academy. From Viola Davis' acceptance speech, Andy Samberg giving all watching free HBO Now access, and Jon Stewart and Jon Hamm's farewell wins, nothing surprised viewers and the audience more than the last award presenter Tracy Morgan. He walked on stage to a standing ovation, in his first public appearance since his tragic car accident covered by Daniel S. Levine here at TheCelebrityCafe.Com back in June 2014.

Morgan, 46, opened saying, "I miss you guys so much," as he looked out into an audience of his friends and peers. "Last year, Jimmy Kimmel stood on this stage and said, ‘We’ll see you back here next year, Tracy Morgan.’ Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family and my beautiful new wife, I'm here standing on my own two feet."

Fighting back tears Morgan thanked everyone for their support through their thoughts and prayers over the past 15 months of his recovery. Morgan then switched gears joking about waking up from an eight day coma and stated, "I was just ecstatic to learn that I wasn't the one who messed up."

To end this heart warming moment Morgan reminds everyone he is still the comedian they know and love. "Only recently I’ve started to feel like myself again,” he said, “which means a whole lot of women are gonna get pregnant at the after party.” Amidst laughter and smiles from everyone in attendance, cameras focused on his 30 Rock co-stars Jack McBrayer, Jane Krakowski, and Tina Fey, who smiled and placed her face into the palms of her hands.

In a statement to ABC News Morgan reveals that the idea to return at this years Emmy Awards came from his publicist, Lewis Kay. Morgan recalls Kay saying, "What you want to do is let Hollywood welcome you home." Morgan agreed stating, "I loved the idea of getting back with my community, the show business community. I loved it."

Morgan continued to inform ABC, that it was thanks to the people in attendance at last night's Emmys - the stars in the room, his friends - that helped get him back in front of the camera. "Speaking to people like Steve Martin and Lorne Michaels, people who were there, that meant a lot to me," Morgan said. "I've been really, really excited about doing this. I wasn't nervous...nervous is for people who can't wait until it's over. Excited is for people who can't wait for it to start. I couldn't wait for it to start."
