What’s On TV Tonight: ‘Empire’ is back to face ‘Modern Family’

Tonight is one of the rare nights during the early weeks of a TV season. That’s because there is only one brand new show debuting tonight. Everything else is just returning programs. Here’s what’s on television tonight!

Wednesday is reality TV night on CBS. Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance kicks off at 8 p.m., featuring a line-up of returning contestants voted by the fans. This is followed by the finale for Big Brother, starting at 9:30 p.m.

ABC

The laughs keep coming on ABC as the network decided to keep its entire Wednesday schedule from last season in tact. The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family and Black-ish are all back. And if you need a dose of musical drama, you can tune in for the return of Nashville at 10 p.m.

NBC

The peacock is going with crime dramas on Wednesday, with Debra Messing back on the case in the second season of The Mysteries of Laura. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit kicks off its 17th season with a two-hour episode.

Fox

Morris Chestnut stars as Dr. Rosewood in the only new show on tonight, Rosewood. He plays a Miami pathologist paired with a detective (Jaina Lee Ortiz) to solve crimes. That is followed by the return of last season’s blockbuster, Empire.
