Starz renews 'Ash vs. Evil Dead' for Season 2

Ash vs. Evil Dead hasn't even aired a single episode yet, but Starz is so confident in the series they have already renewed it for a second season.

According to Deadline, Starz has officially ordered Season 2 of Ash vs. Evil Dead, which is expected to air sometime in late 2016. Season 2 will reportedly consist of at least 10 episodes, the same number as the first season. Bruce Campbell and Lucy Lawless will both reprise their roles, Sam Raimi will stay on as executive producer and Craig DiGregorio will continue as showrunner. Though Raimi only directed the pilot, he has said he would return behind the camera for a potential second season.

“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two-decade-long appetite for more Ash,” said Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik. “The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story, have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with Season 1.”

The first episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead debuts on Oct. 31 on Starz. If you're worried that the ratings might suffer due to broadcasting on Halloween night, remember that The Walking Dead also premiered on Halloween and it still managed to be the most-watched premiere in AMC's history.

Ash vs. Evil Dead stars Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, his character from the Evil Dead trilogy who he has not portrayed on screen in over 20 years (unless you count the post-credits scene in the Evil Dead remake). In the series, Ash is living in his trailer park home when the evils of the Necronomicon are unleashed once again, and he must attempt to save the world for a fourth time.
