Rapper T.I. found himself the focus of Internet outrage today after his bizarre comments on a woman becoming the President of the U.S. He then apologized on Twitter for his comments.
In an interview with DJ Whoo Kid, T.I. was asked about how he thinks should be president. He started off by saying, “Not to be sexist, but...” which meant that anything he said from that point on would be offensive.
“Not to be sexist but, I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman,” T.I. said, notes Billboard. “Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the president? It’s kinda like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally -- they make very permanent, cemented decisions -- and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen. And I sure would hate to just set off a nuke.”
He later said that, “...The world ain’t ready yet. I think you might be able to the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could [get a woman].”
The comments lit Twitter up and T.I.’s name is still trending on the social network. He - or one of his representatives - later apologized for the comments on Twitter.
“My comments about women running for president were unequivocally insensitive and wrong. I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended,” he wrote.
