Ariana Grande to perform new single at American Music Awards, makes shortlist for Artist of the Year

Ariana Grande is poised to have a big night at the American Music Awards later this month. Not only is she going to perform her new single, she’s also a finalist for the top award, Artist of the Year.

ABC announced this morning that Grande will perform the song “Focus,” which was just released last week. It will be the first time she will perform the song on television.

Other performers on the night include Selena Gomez, Carrie Underwood, Coldplay, Gwen Stefani, 5 Seconds of Summer, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, One Direction, Walk the Moon, Meghan Trainor & Charlie Puth, and Luke Bryan & Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild. Pentatonix will perform parts of the Star Wars score with an orchestra and host Jennifer Lopez will also perform.

Grande and Bryan are also among the five finalists for the Artist of the Year Award. The other three nominees are One Direction, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.

The AMAs, which is produced by dick clark productions, will air on Sunday, Nov. 22.
