‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ recap episode 103: ‘Books From Beyond’

On Saturday’s episode of Ash vs Evil Dead, Ash and his crew fight for their lives at the Books From Beyond bookstore, while a mysterious woman questions what’s left of Kelly’s parents.

The woman Fisher met at the diner speeds down the road to Kelly’s parents’ house. She pulls Kelly’s dad from his grave and questions him about Ash. She tortures him with a knife that burns his skin.

Ash, Kelly, and Pablo pull up to Books From Beyond, where the owner told Ash years ago that he could translate the Necronomicon. Pablo says he’ll miss being a team. Ash says he’s a lone wolf.

When Ash rings the bell, the owner, Lionel, comes out from the back room followed by Detective Fisher. She leaves. Lionel is ecstatic to see that the book is real. Ash asks the owner to find the “undo” spell in the book.

Fisher calls a fellow officer and convinces him to send her the sketch of the man they’re looking for. She wants proof that it’s Ash.

Kelly tells Pablo he’s her silver lining. She trusts him like a brother. Pablo sees Fisher grab her gun out of her car.

Fisher tells Ash to get on his knees. Pablo hits her in the head, knocking her out. Ash handcuffs her to the wall and asks Kelly to watch her while he, Pablo and Lionel go in the back to figure out how to fix things.

Lionel tells Ash and Pablo the history of the book. In ancient times, the dark ones, who weren’t fully demon or human, created the book as a weapon against humanity. The book has the power to be a portal between the real world and the underworld. The book is harmless unless wielded by someone evil or stupid.

Lionel reads that the annulment might lie inside the origin of the man, meaning Ash. Pablo says he wishes they could summon an answer. Ash decides to summon a minor demon to tell them how to reverse the spell.

Lionel draws a symbol for the summoning. Pablo tries to talk Ash out of it. Lionel says the circle will contain the demon making the ritual safe. Ash talks Pablo into it. Lionel begins to summon a demon that preys on the spiritually and emotionally weak.

Fisher comes to and tries to convince Kelly that Ash is bad. Kelly says she’d be dead if it weren’t for him. Fisher switches tactics and tells Kelly they’re on the same side. She offers to help them.

The demon appears. Ash asks it how to send the evil back where it came from, but it refuses to cooperate. Fisher comes in and holds Ash at gunpoint. When she shoots a warning shot, he breaks the circle and the demon attacks him. It throws Fisher backwards and heaves broken glass at Lionel, killing him. Pablo steps in to help, but the demon just attacks him and Ash. Kelly hits the demon with the Necronomicon, sending him back and saving the guys.

Ash tries to help Fisher up, but she slaps handcuffs on him. He takes off his fake hand and wriggles free, then cuffs her to a table.

In the car, Pablo suggests they go to his uncle for help. Ash thanks Kelly and Pablo for being his pack.

Inside the store, Fisher can’t get free. Lionel gets up and... he’s a Deadite!
