'Breaking Bad' props headed to the Smithsonian

If you ever wanted to see some of Walter White's "Blue Sky" in person, it and many other Breaking Bad props will soon be on display Washington, D.C.

According to The Guardian, The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History has just received more than 10 props from Breaking Bad. They include two Hazmat suits and gas masks, a bag of of blue crystal meth, Hank Schrader's ID card, a Los Pollos Hermanos cup, a purple corkscrew from Marie's collection, and Walter White's signature Heisenberg hat.

The cast and crew of Breaking Bad united at the Smithsonian on Tuesday to celebrate the addition. During the event, Bryan Cranston picked up the Heisenberg hat and put it on once again.

"I wanted to see if it still fit," Cranston said. "Thank you, everybody. Boy, it feels strange putting that back on.”

Cranston noted that he missed working on the series, but overall he doesn't miss playing the character because creator Vince Gilligan gave Mr. White such a proper sendoff.

Gilligan himself was also in attendance, and he said that the experience was like a dream for him, as he always used to visit the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum when he was young.

"If you had told me in 2005 that props from our show would eventually find their way into the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, this same hallowed institution which houses the Star-Spangled Banner, Edison’s first lightbulb, Dorothy’s ruby slippers, Abraham Lincoln’s pocket watch, I would have thought you were using too much meth," Gilligan said.

The new Breaking Bad expected to go on display until 2018, when the Smithsonian will launch a new exhibit on American culture, notes USA Today.
