Two months after his emotional departure from The Daily Show, Jon Stewart is heading back to television.
HBO has just announced in a statement that Stewart has signed a four-year production deal with the network. He will produce short-form digital content, which will be featured on HBO Now and HBO Go and will be refreshed multiple times a day.
In Stewart's first project with HBO, the comedian will "view current events through his unique prism." No further details have been released, but it basically sounds like Jon Stewart video blogging about whatever he wants to talk about throughout the week. It also seems he won't exactly have a strict schedule like he did on The Daily Show.
"Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me," Stewart said. "I'm pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again."
This will make Stewart the second Daily Show alum to head over to HBO after John Oliver, whose show Last Week Tonight has done quite well for the network. An HBO spokesperson told CNN that Stewart's videos will begin streaming in early 2016, meaning he'll have the opportunity to discuss the presidential election once again.
