Michael Douglas will likely return for 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'

Though there was some speculation he might be finished with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it appears Michael Douglas will return for the next 'Ant-Man' film.

In an interview with Collider, Douglas said he recently got a call about Marvel wanting him to join 'Ant-Man and the Wasp,' and it sounds like the actor is interested, noting that his response was, "That's great!"

"Hopefully, I won’t have to carry quite as much expositional dialogue as the first one but I had a wonderful time doing it," Douglas said. "Just a great, great time."

Though many assumed Douglas would be back given his pivotal role in the first Ant-Man, last month it was revealed that he was not signed on for any future sequels, despite Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly already having deals in place. Thankfully, we'll see plenty more of Hank Pym in 2018, although Douglas laughed at the absurdity of talking about a film that's so far away.

"I chuckle about being involved with a movie that already has a release date in 2018," he said. "Ya know, it’s hard to conceive of that, but it’s all good, all the way around, it’s all good."

'Ant-Man and the Wasp' hits theaters on July 5, 2018.
