Devious Maids star Roselyn Sanchez and her husband, Witches of East End star Eric Winter, will executive produce a comedy for Fox that is adapted from the Fox International Channel’s 2014 Colombian series, Familia En Venta (Family for Sale).
Familia En Venta, which starred Sanchez, revolves around a Hispanic family who are going through the motions of a divorce. Aaron Serna (Cristela) will pen the adaptation. Ian Gurvitz (The Exes) will serve as the showrunner, reports Deadline.
Sanchez, whose background is Puerto Rican, headlined the original series with Mexican actor Carlos Espejel. The series was recently nominated for an International Emmy Award for best comedy series.
Sanchez and Winter pitched the idea to Fox International Channels about producing an English-language version for the U.S. after seeing the success the series had in South America, notes Variety. The couple and Brillstein Entertainment Partners paired up and Robyn Schwartz will co-executive produce the American Familia En Venta series. There is no talk of Sanchez reprising her role.
This is Winter's second sale this season. He also is attached to NBC's Zone of Silence as executive producer, alongside Eva Longoria and Jason Blum. Winter was last seen as an actor on Witches of East End and is repped by Gersh and Brillstein.
Sanchez is repped by APA and Alchemy Entertainment and will be returning to Lifetime's Devious Maids for their upcoming fourth season.
