Top 10 Mickey Mouse Moments for his 87th birthday

Today marks the official birthday of Mickey Mouse. On this day in 1928, Steamboat Willie debuted at New York City’s Colony Theater, effectively changing the world we live in overnight.

Steamboat Willie was the first cartoon to bring sound and image together. While the short is far removed from today’s animation, it remains entertaining. It introduced audiences to Walt Disney’s most famous creation, with animation by Ub Iwerks. Minnie Mouse was there, too, as is the villainous Pete.

Other characters would be introduced overtime and Mickey’s popularity was eclipsed at one point by Disney’s own Donald Duck. But Disney never forgot the character that launched the Disney Studio on the road to success.

With over 87 years of history, it’s hard to whittle down just 10 of Mickey’s best moments. But I’ll try anyway. Here we go...
