The Daily Show will air a rerun tonight due to an unforeseen medical emergency.
The show's host, Trevor Noah, underwent an emergency appendectomy early this morning, Comedy Central announced in a statement. Luckily the procedure went well, but Noah is still recuperating and will not be able to film a new Daily Show episode today.
The network says they expect Noah to return tomorrow. Wednesday's guest was scheduled to be David Holbrooke, whose newest film is the documentary The Diplomat about Ambassador Richard Holbrooke.
This will be Noah's first time missing an episode of The Daily Show after taking over as host on Sept. 28. Reviews of his revamped program have been mostly positive, but the ratings have been anything but spectacular, down 37 percent from the end of Jon Stewart's run, notes TheWrap.
On the plus side though, Noah has brought in a 20 percent growth among viewers 18-24. Comedy Central President Michele Ganeless said they're extremely happy with Noah's performance, adding that he adds a more global, millennial perspective to the series.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11 a.m. on Comedy Central.
