The Writers Guild of America announced the nominees for the 2016 awards for television writing. The nominees include familiar favorites like Game of Thrones and Veep, plus new shows, including Better Call Saul and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
AMC’s Better Call Saul and USA Network’s Mr. Robot will both be competing in the Drama Series and New Series categories. Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was the only sitcom to earn nominations in both Comedy Series and New Series.
Saul also scored a nomination in the individual episode writing drama category for “Uno.”
Game of Thrones was nominated for Drama Series and Episodic Drama (for “Mother’s Mercy”).
Mad Men’s final season was also nominated for Drama Series and for Episodic Drama for the series finale, “Person to Person.”
Notably, no major network shows were nominated in either of the top categories.
The WGA Awards are held on Saturday, Feb. 13, with simultaneous events in Los Angeles and New York City.
