Former secretary of state and current Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she said that Donald Trump is no longer funny.
The interview with Seth Meyers came just days after Trump announced on Monday that he is calling for a “total and complete shutdown” of allowing Muslims into the country. The comments have earned negative responses even from other Republicans and some media outlets have shifted how they cover Trump.
“I no longer think he’s funny,” Clinton told Meyers. “I think for weeks, you and everybody else were just bringing folks to hysterical laughter and all of that, but now he has gone way over the line.”
Clinton went on to call Trump’s latest comments “not only shameful and wrong... it’s dangerous.”
She said that she could laugh at Trump’s insults directed to her, but she can’t laugh at what he’s saying about Muslims. Clinton believes that Trump is only giving terrorists “a great propaganda tool.”
The former First Lady went on to call on Republicans to tell Trump that they won’t tolerate his rhetoric.
