Every season comes with a wave of new shows across networks, and with those tend to come at least a few breakout stars. With the winter mid-season shows getting going, it's time to take a look back at the gems of the fall.
While nothing has been dubbed a complete smash hit, there have been well-received shows like Quantico and Blindspot, and the season served up a ton of story lines — a bundle of movie to show adaptations, the return of television icons like John Stamos (Grandfathered), Don Johnson (Blood & Oil) and Fred Savage (Grinder), a new vessel for TV frequent flyers Rob Lowe (Grinder) and Morris Chestnut (Rosewood), and the influx of former Nickelodeon stars like Josh Peck (Drake & Josh to Grandfathered), Emma Roberts (Unfabulous to Scream Queens) and Keke Palmer (True Jackson, VP to Scream Queens).
It also served to introduce or solidify a talented new bunch of young actors worth getting excited about. Below are the top 10 of fall TV's breakout stars — unearthed through comedies, dramas and action shows.
Honorable mention:
The supporting cast of Quantico: On a show where every character has their own strengths and shady secrets, and everyone is a suspect, the actors all nail complexity and likability.
The newbies of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals: If there's anything the creative team behind these supernatural CW hits knows how to do, it's formulate and cast villains fans love to hate and hate to love. The villains of both shows' current seasons have injected fresh energy to their worlds, and have the same swagger and emotional depth that made former TVD villains Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies) popular enough to get their own spin-off in the first place.
