Former Friends star David Schwimmer will star in Feed The Beast, a pilot that AMC has already picked up to go straight to series.
Feed The Beast will be produced by AMC Studios and Lionsgate. Based on the Danish series Bankerot, it centers on two friends who are as close as brothers, but often compete with each other as they try to open an upscale restaurant in the Bronx.
Schwimmer will star as Tommy, while Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe) plats Dion. Other members of the cast include Michael Gladis (Mad Men), Lorenza Izzo (The Green Hornet), Christine Adams (Agents of SHIELD), John Doman (The Affair) and Elijah Jacob (Spot On).
Clyde Phillips (Dexter, Nurse Jackie) is showrunner and the executive producer. Malene Blenkov, who worked on the Danish original, is also among the executive producers.
“Under Clyde's creative leadership, Feed the Beast is a layered character piece and a highly entertaining story,” Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV, said in a statement. “To have David Schwimmer and Jim Sturgess along with the rest of our wonderful cast bringing this story to life is incredibly exciting, and we can't wait to get started in a few weeks.”
Feed The Beast will debut in May.
Schwimmer stars in FX’s American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson as Robert Kardashian. He also appeared in an episode of Episodes last year.
