Severe weather conditions, including additional storms and flooding have hindered the search and rescue mission. Kay County Sheriff Everette VanHoesen explained that this storm, especially for those on Kaw Lake, took many by surprise.

"It's a big lake, and when we have high winds, the lake will get whitecapped; the waves get pretty big. I understand these men were avid hunters. They knew what they were doing, but sometimes the size of our lake really tricks them," said VanHoesen.

Strickland is the lead singer of the country-rock band Backroad Anthem, most known for their singles, "Say It To You" and "Back to Your Roots."
