Death can be one of the most challenging and emotional experiences we face as humans here in the physical world. As a psychic medium I am humbled each week by the thousands of emails and messages I receive from grieving people around the world looking to me for messages of peace and closure. I have reconnected many people through readings with those that they have lost in spirit, through my appearances on television and radio programs, as well as through group reading tours and private readings.
Mediums provide extra validation that your loved one is indeed with you and watching over you through each journey. However, you don't need to visit a medium to find peace or overcome a passing.
The first step is knowing in your heart that losing a loved one is not a permanent goodbye, but rather "I will see you later." Keep in mind that one day you will be reunited again, but, for now, it’s important to start rediscovering yourself and all of the beautiful things in life that are here for you to celebrate and enjoy.
One of the best things that you can do for yourself after a death is to set clear goals for your future. By setting goals, you start to pull away from the overwhelming situation at hand and bring yourself forward into the future by creating positive experiences for yourself to set forth and enjoy. Setting future goals not only allows you think about the future that you want, but also helps you to feel like you have more control over your life and will empower you to create positive change and life experiences.
It is important for you to pull together a support system for yourself with friends, family and those you love that will help you to laugh and feel more positive and uplifted. This is the perfect time to reach out to old friends and family who you have lost touch with over the busy years to catch up and get reacquainted with one another.
Another positive way to help with grief is to pay it forward in honor of the person you lost. Turn an overwhelming situation into a positive one by doing good deeds in memory of the person who you were closest to. Opening doors for strangers, volunteering in the community or practicing random acts of kindness will help that person’s legacy of love live on by starting a chain reaction and inspiring others to love and embrace life.
It is important to know that grief relief is not about forgetting about the person that has passed, but rather about knowing that they will forever live in your heart. Be encouraged by their passing and legacy to live an inspired, spiritual and happy life like they did when they were here and live each day with encouragement, knowing that they are proud and smiling down on you from Heaven.
