‘Agent Carter’ star Hayley Atwell joins ABC legal pilot ‘Conviction’

Things don’t look too good for Marvel’s Agent Carter. After the show came back with low ratings for its second season, star Hayley Atwell has joined a new ABC legal drama pilot called Conviction.

Atwell will star as the daughter of a powerful political family who is stuck taking a job at the Conviction Integrity Unit in Los Angeles. She and her team have a couple of weeks to investigate a conviction to see if a person has been wrongly convicted.

According to TVLine, should the show be ordered to series and Agent Carter get a surprising third season, Atwell’s schedule will be fixed so she can do both shows.

The team on Conviction includes writer/director Liz Friedman (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), Mark Gordon and Nicholas Pepper of The Mark Gordon Company.

Atwell starred as Agent Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger and played the role again in a brief cameo in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The British actress’ other credits include Cinderella, Jimi: All Is By My Side, an episode of Black Mirror and The Duchess.
