The drummer of The Don Kelley Band had a scary moment when he fell through a glass window during a performance on Jan. 29 at a bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Despite the fall the rocker did what he does best and continued to play.
The Tennessean reported that while doing a set at Robert's Western World, Stan "Stanimal" Saxon really got into a song, stood up and fell backwards out the window and onto the concrete street. The incident was captured on video and even though it looked pretty bad Saxon got back up and just kept on playing.
“My ear monitor pulled me back, felt like somebody grabbed me by the shirt and yanked me to the ground. It was like the window wasn’t even there. The next thing I knew I was looking up at shards of glass going, ‘how did I get out here’,” Saxon told WKRN.
“What was amazing was how nonchalant everyone was,” said Patrick Harrigan, who witnessed the whole thing. “The drummer just picked up his drum, put it back in the window, walked back in and we shook the glass off and the girl next to me was bleeding and had some cuts. The bartender gave her a Band-Aid and the band played on. It was fantastic.”
Saxon and the band then headed across the street and put on a show for another four hours
Of course getting up and continuing after something like that is very rock and roll but there were concerns about whether or not the drummer was injured. The next day Saxon found out that he actually broke one of his ribs, so playing through that was definitely a rock and roll moment.
